happy birthdays…
…to the 2 important people in my life.
*consecutive!
it’s the weekends behbeh! time to dance and boogie to…

love it! link.
predictably irrational
everyone suffers from the mantra of “keeping your options open”. people said it is good to have more options, just because…but nobody knows why it is so and never realise the impact it will affect on our daily lives.
a very interesting article from the nytimes reported on this based on a study at m.i.t. they developed a game whereby the players have to click on a door within 100 clicks to receive as many points as possible. as each player went through the 100 allotted clicks, he could switch rooms to search for higher payoffs, but each switch used up a click to open the new door. the best strategy was to quickly check out the three rooms and settle in the one with the highest rewards. the catch comes in when a new feature comes into the game when doors will start to shrink if they clicked on other doors. the research shows that the players tend to hang on to the disappearing doors, just because they want to have more options to hang on to.

you can play the game here.
i think i am the worst example to parlay this message. i tend to hang on to clothes that are almost a decade and a half old, just because at the back of my mind says this may come in handy sometime. i tend to brood and calculate if this is better than that. i sometimes have so many options to evaluate that by the time i’m done with assessing all of them, i’m too exhausted to choose that i will just take the one that responds first, even knowingly so it is a bad choice.
well, now we know.

New years are a chance for a beginning
Even when there hasn’t been an end.
Wheels turn in an interminable bend,
Yet, marked in one spot, seem to wobble spinning.
Each year we hope to do a little better
Although we know that really nothing’s changed.
Reason thinks that everything’s arranged,
So we must dream if we would fate unfetter.
2007 was an amazing year.
hopefully, more good things to come in the year ahead.
god bless you all.
moving on
so well, i’ve already left the place. even though it’s been only a few months and albeit the many naik darah incidents, i still bring fond memories of that place. definitely gonna miss the bilik abang abang where wak dol and co blabber about their tak-masuk akal jokes. or that baik nak mampus prata shop at tanglin halt. or those cute….anyways 2 things i learnt while wandering there.
miss misery

whenever i feel like in the dumps, good will hunting never fails to cheer me up. i can relate to will’s character, and feels like him (except for the abundance of genius and charm). Read the rest of this entry »
Breithla Shona Dhuit!
1. everyone (the freaky guys anyway with little to do) are anticipating for the start of the premier league come this aug 11th. ok, fine. sarip’s still a “liverpudlian”, but something tells him it’s going to be a case of same ‘ol same ‘ol for the reds this year. lots of hype, slow start, mid-season flourish and the inevitable failure when the crunch comes in around jan till march. and he think that torres dude will be crocked within a month or two citing indifference and “rough play”. or as what big priced strikers do at anfield, they’ll just flopped to follow the likes of saunders, collymore, riedle, diouf, cisse and most recently bellamy. surprisingly those who came without much fanfare flourished amazingly and sarip’s thinking benayoun will make a big impact there this season. but sarip can still hope. though he does not understand how on earth pool did not signed a player of class in roque santa cruz who came in for free FOR FREE! to blackburn.

that lad’s class! everyone needs a second club to cheer on so blackburn is one sarip will be pinning on at their games this season.
2. it’s all over sports columns- kg going green. he shld’ve gone to the suns methinks.
3. ogostos first is tomorrow. sarip does not mind getting this, can?
4. in tune with the ageing process, sarip will stand by these rules. yeah right.
5. unless sarip’s arnie. but he’s not born to reaaaaaaaaaaaaad but to leaaaaaaaaaad.
6. speaking of which, sarip finds the simpsons movie a bit of a let down. as to what homer jokes in the show “it takes a sucker to pay for a show you can get for free on TV. d’oh!”
the irony of an eclipsed sight
i like this little ditty from rai.
melayu boleh!
hello world
kampungdusun was created during lunch one day as an avenue to let out sarip’s frustrations. that was four years ago and keyed on a smallish broken down desk running of win 98 se.
the work was mundane and as such sarip looks forward for lunch time to stare at that cranky pc and write what nonsensical ‘kelakar-tak-menjadi-tales’.
it was one of sarip’s simple pleasures.
in the span of that 4 years, sarip made friends and ties were strengthened, saw lovers come and go, made severe mistakes and relished new experiences. sarip would not have asked for more.
and kampungdusun followed him through and through.
a few weeks back, sarip packed his bags from the place that bore kampungdusun. (somehow) it was a hard decision, he love the friends he made there and “time privileges” it provided him. sarip will always remember all of you and distance will not keep us apart.
thank you everyone. and dev, take care of wilson please.
except for the insanely early morning wake-ups, lack of ‘rilek-one-corner-type’ and the bulu-roma-scary environment, the new place is fitting me well. sarip hopes for well.
and yes, you. thank you. :*

life works in mysterious ways.
the more you look out for it,
the distant it becomes
and then when you least expected it
it comes
